Is Candida Real?

Some people always doubt is Candida real? Could it be real or people just use it as an excuse? Candida is a natural fungi which is generally found inside the body in small controlled quantities, but if there is unbalance in the body’s natural microbial flora, then various diseases or yeast overgrowths occur on any part of the body, both internally or externally, resulting in an abnormal condition or state therefore causing ‘Candida syndrome’, a term given to unusual fungal overgrowth in the gut caused by Candida in human body, which is enough proof for is Candida real or not.
 
In cases of Candida syndrome, patients usually suffer with a weak intestinal lining due to high activity of Candida and causing a leaky gut, thus giving access to various contents and microbes in gastrointestinal tract to enter the blood circulation, resulting in further infection.

Studies Proving Why is Candida Real:

On June 2013, a study was published by PMC that Candida albicans being a member of normal human microbial flora, it possesses efficiency to cause superficial skin infections and systemic life threatening diseases. So the answer to the question ‘is Candida real?’ is that yes it is real. Several virulence factors of Candida albicans were studied which contribute to its pathogenic behaviour. As a fungus it has a potential to release hydrolases thus causing severe invasion to the host cell in body. Its ability to transform from yeast to hyphae, biofilm formation, phenotypic switching and fitness attributes are responsible pathogenicity of Candida albicans. In particular, Candida overgrowth can inter with the body’s iron, zinc, manganese or copper levels.
This study infers that Candida albicans may lead to numerous diseases systemic and sometimes localised in nature in human body. A Candida infection can also deplete the levels of minerals within the body, and there are even numerous cases of death from this infection, so it should not be left untreated.
 



Another study published in the ‘Eukaryotic Cell Journal’ in the year 2006, looked at the estrogen level responses of Candida albicans at biological and molecular level. The effect of elevated estrogen on host cell and the fungus was studied. External estrogen did not change the biomass of Candida Albicans though there were many changes seen at biological and structural level in the fungi. It was analysed from the study that phospholipid and sterol metabolic pathway alter the Candida albicans germ tube formation and length. In 80 % of cases they studied for vulvovaginal candidiasis in women, Candida albicans was isolated.  In the study the profile of estrogen-treated C. albicans cells showed increased expression across several strain-estrogen concentration-time point combinations, thus suggesting that these genes are the most responsive to estrogen exposure. The findings of this study suggest that high levels of estrogen do contribute to the growth of this fungus in the body, and its pathology and molecular biology can both be affected.

With both these studies we can conclude on: why is Candida real? It is that yes it is real, and is found in the body of every human being inside the gut, intestinal tract, or vagina. It is only the imbalances in the body that trigger its overgrowth causing yeast infections. Candida infections are also triggered when ones daily food diet contains low levels of minerals (zinc, iron, manganese, and copper), so it’s important to include a good number of green vegetable foods into ones daily diet.

 

Causes and Symptoms of Candida Overgrowth:

A weakened immune system, high sugar diet, using birth control pills or long-term antibiotic use can cause Candida infections to occur. Patients experience symptoms such as feeling of fatigue, skin problems, repeated and long term yeast infections, multiple allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, decreased concentration and sometimes depression due to Candida syndrome.

 

How to deal with the Candida Syndrome?

To get rid of Candida overgrowth problems, one must first keep their diet healthy. One must avoid foods containing high sugar, yeast, high carbohydrates, and beer, all of which support the growth of Candida. The other option is to keep your gut clean by high intake of fibrous diet and adding antifungal nutrients in the diet. The final option is to keep the gut strong which will provide the resistance against the yeast. Including probiotic drinks in day to day life provide one with an healthy gastrointestinal tract (GIT) flora, thus preventing Candida syndrome.
There a number of anti-fungal medications available for treating Candida fluconazole and miconazole, however these drugs are only available by prescription only.

 

Is Candida Real Problem for Women or Men?



Candida yeast infections can affect both women and men, but it is far more common in women in the form of vaginal Candidiasis.  The oral infection of Candida is the one that affects both women and men. Multiple doctors have different views regarding the Candida syndrome. Most the doctors describe the Candida syndrome as yeast infections and oral thrush, and just treat it with antifungal medication thus resulting in reoccurrence of the disease, but it is also important to change ones diet to avoid the foods that trigger the infection to have a better chance of preventing it returning.

Weather you think is Candida real or not, the bottom line is to maintain a healthy diet and efficient lifestyle, it is hence of incredible importance to maintain good hygiene instead of finding out the hard way is Candida real or not.
